With over 25 years under her belt, Joan wood has
seen it and,
probably retouched it. A Fine arts and advertising major in
college, Joan curiously found her niche in retouching after
a few stints performing creepy-retoucher-in-training-weirdo-stuff
like spotting, bleaching and airbrushing dye transfer prints
Still evolving as an artist in her own right, Joan ser her
sights on advertising and began freelance retouchnig for some
of NYC's biggest, and smallest, agencies. Her work for Revlon,
Chanel, Dior and Versace, to name many, have numerously appeared
on the covers and pages of every major fashion and news magazine
including (plume of smoke escaping from my cigarette holder
as I boastfully puff away) vogue, Bazaar, cosmo, Time and
you can find Joan at her Chelsea studio hammering away on
clients such as M&M's, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Campbell's,
Revlon, Gillette and more. Joan Wood has built a reputation
as one the foremost digital retouching artists in the country
and has a cultish following of young, angry art directors
from some of the premiere creative boutiques around.
(aka Joan Woodigital) is all about two things: service and
quality. And if by some strange circumstance you're not, don't
worry, you will be.
"If only Joan colud rteouch wodrs, the avdreitsnig

Billy Siegrist, Creative/Art Director
"Joan is ferociously detail-orientated. She not only
has a photographer's eye, but she also has a designers mind.
It's a rare combination that comes in handy when you're facing

"Whether there's a shoe-string budget, no budget, or,
for once, a real budget....whether it's due tomorrow, Sunday,

"In teh world of retouching there are retochers, which
in truth are computer trekkies who have managed to take Photoshop
101 in between Star Trek conventions. They're computer geeks
who have relentlessly collected a plethora of those fancy,
one-click, plug-in filters that would knock any hack-art director's
dark rimmed glasses off.
Then there are retouchers with a capital "R" who
are visionary artists in their own right. They are the true
artists who use the computer merely as a tool utilized to
shape a unique visiuon.
Joan Wood is one of the few truly gifted professional retouching
artists of the latter breed. And she doesn't work for hacks...at
least not on a daily basis."
Frank Anselmo, Creative/Art Director
"Joan Wood is a phenomenal retoucher and person. she
is so fun to work with and always takes things beyond the
